March is National Nutrition Month! It was created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and it promotes nutrition education and information. March is also my birthday month… so it’s one of the best months out of the year! 🙂 (birthday = March 29 WOO!)
Nutrition isn’t only focused on the food that we eat. It’s also important to be aware of when, where, and why we eat. This brings me to 2016’s theme – “savor the flavor of eating right”. This means that we should enjoy the flavors of food traditions, learn new things about cuisine through social experiences, enjoy food with family and friends, and appreciate the food and the company together. Savoring the flavor of eating right means enjoying what you’re eating – and it should be nutritious! Sometimes it’s hard to convince people that healthy is delicious… but really it is! Just because something is good for you doesn’t mean it has to taste bad. Develop a mindful eating pattern that consists of nutritious and delicious foods, and this will keep your tummy and your mind happy! 🙂
I understand it can be very hard to develop a healthy eating pattern. It’s difficult to veer from any kind of schedule or daily ritual, whether it’s what you eat for breakfast or what time you wake up in the morning. Take small steps at first, set realistic goals, and believe in yourself. You can develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle… why would you want to live your life any other way?
