CHOCOLATE. CRUMB. DONUTS. Yes, I said it. This is what we have here. I ate two right from the oven and they are DEVINE. They make your house smell like a fudgey batch of brownies. Delicious. Dunk them in some milk (almond milk for me – I just don’t like the taste of cow’s milk) and you got yourself a nice little midnight snack! 🙂
RECIPE: (makes 12 donuts)
for the donuts:
- 1 & 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1/2 cup melted butter
for the crumb topping:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup butter, slightly soft
- 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
INSTRUCTIONS:
- preheat oven to 350 degrees
- in a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder
- in a separate bowl, combine egg, vanilla, almond milk, and melted butter
- pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients in about 3 increments, mixing after each addition
- in a separate bowl, combine ingredients for crumb topping
- use a fork or your hands (I used my hands – makes it way easier even though it’s more messy!) and combine all ingredients until the mixture forms crumbs
- grease a donut pan, add batter (3/4 full) and sprinkle crumb topping over each donut
- bake for about 10-12 minutes until toothpick or knife comes out clean
- cool on wire rack
- serve with some almond milk… MMM! enjoy!
Omg these are wonderful! Definitely a must try!
