cloves & spices smoothie bowl.

This is a smoothie that is sure to make your tastebuds tingle!  The snap from the ginger and the sweetness of banana makes it such a perfect combination for autumn.  I topped this smoothie with chia seeds, pomegranate, slices of banana and crushed gingersnaps.  YUM!  Did you know pomegranate is a fall fruit?  I didn’t know this until recently!  All the reason to use more of it this season! 🙂 Also, this recipe was recently featured on the Spiritual Gangster blog!  Check it out.

RECIPE: (makes 4 small smoothies or 2 larger smoothies)

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 bananas (room temperature), sliced
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4 gingersnaps, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 cup pomegranate
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • put frozen bananas in a blender
  • add cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, molasses, and almond milk
  • blend until smooth
  • transfer to small glasses or bowls
  • top with sliced banana, pomegranate, chia seeds, crushed gingersnaps, and maple syrup (I divided all the toppings evenly between the smoothies)
  • garnish with cinnamon sticks
