This was the second year in a row that I visited Portage, Maine. I went with my boyfriend, Josh, because his grandmother has a house on a lake! Portage Lake to be exact. I can’t even begin to explain how beautiful it is up there. For those of you who don’t know where Portage is, it’s very close to the border of Canada! So I was at the tippy-top of the United States. It took about 12-13 hours to get there. The funny thing is, it takes about 6 hours to get into Maine, and then another 6 hours to get through Maine and into Portage. We went to stay with my boyfriend’s grandmom for 1 week. We left very early Saturday morning and came back home very early the next Sunday morning. I was very nervous I was going to get homesick, because to be honest, I usually do; but I didn’t get homesick once! This year, Josh’s brother, Jeremiah took the trip with us. Jeremiah and I are very close. He is like a brother to me and I can talk to him about anything! Josh’s Aunt Amy and Uncle Jim met us at the house on Monday and stayed until Friday. It was my first time meeting them, but I felt like I had known them forever! They were so welcoming and eager to spend time with me, and of course Josh and Jeremiah. By the end of the vacation I was calling them “Aunt Amy” and “Uncle Jim”! We went fishing, hiking, bike riding and ate out. Honestly, the best time I had was sitting either in the family room or around the fire just talking and laughing so hard about the silliest things! I am so grateful to be apart of such a great family and be able to spend time with a wonderful, caring and loving group of people. I hope to make more memories with Josh and his family. Here are some pictures from the trip! 🙂
Overall, I had a wonderful week and I couldn’t have asked for a better vacation.
